Description:
Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actor Onoe Matsusuke II as Fukuoka Mitsugi seated grinding ink and with a brush in hand, having just written a poem on a free-standing screen (tsuitate), in the play ‘Ise ondo koi no netaba’ by Chikamatsu Tokuzo and others; performed at the Nakamura-za in the 7th month of 1814.
