Description:
Colour woodblock print, one sheet of an oban polyptych. The kabuki actor Matsumoto Koshiro V as Kuraoka Takesaemon, standing beneath a maple tree and holding a mirror; in the play ‘Dekiaki Hachiman matsuri’ (alternate reading ‘Dekiaki Yawata Matsuri’) by Katsu Hyozo I, (Tsuruya Nanboku IV), performed at the Ichimura-za in the 8th month of 1810. See 1908,0718,0.73 for what appears to be another sheet from this polyptych but published by a different publisher.
