Description:

Portrait of Tomita Taiho (1762-1803). He was a Confucianism scholar and teacher in Kagoshima prefecture. His teaching had large influence on the coming Meiji Enlightenment. He committed suicide after the death of his mentor, TAKASHIMA Hikokuro.
