"Mizu wo Wattate" (Crossing the Water) a poem by Santoka Taneda. Iwao Akiyama was, together with Akio ONDA, one of the best pupils of Shiko MUNAKATA. He mastered the dynamic black and white compositions typical to the "Munakata School". But his amiable owls and semi-abstract figures are distinctively his own.
