Description:
"Minamoto no Yoritomo Oushu-Seibatsu". The victory parade of Minamoto Yoritomo (Left panel: on black horse) who won the Battle of Oshu against Fujiwara clan in 1189. After this battle, Yoritomo called himself, "Seii Taishogun" (Great General who crushes Barbarians) and estublished his shogunate in Kamakura. The real political and military power was taken out from the emperor and aristocrats in Kyoto and transfered to the hands of the feudal lords, who in turn owed their allegiance to the Shgun in the central government. This feudal system lasted until the Meiji Restoration in 1868.
