Frontispiece illustration from a popular literary magazine which was aimed at largely female readers in Meiji - Taisho era. A horse rider in western style female clothes with "Naginata" a long handle sword. A samurai warrior and a weeping child on the right inset. These insets indicate there is distance in the time or the space between the two locations.
