Description:

From a folio, "Akita Fuzoku; Haru no Hanga-shu, Dai-1" (Customs and Manners of Akita Prefecture; Prints in Spring, Vol.1). "Higanbana" Tokushi was famous for the warm depictions of his home, the country side of Akita prefecture in northern Japan. In this picture, children are carrying "Higanbana" (Manjushage or Red Spider Lily). The flower's name was derived from its blooming time around "Higan", Buddhist ceremony around the autumnal equinox.
