Description:
From the woodblock print series, "Hanga Kyoto Ju-ni Kei" (Twelve Views of Kyoto) "Kyo no Daimonji" (Daimonji Fire Display in Kyoto). Taizo is a famous dyer who had numerous awards and solo-exhibitions all over the world. He has made several woodblock prints. His prints have distinctive colors and style which apparently stem out from his experience as a dyer. Daimonji fire display in this print signals the end of Bon Festival (The festival for the spirits of ancestors visiting this world in the middle of August). The huge "dai" character is lit on the east side of Mt.Daimonji to guide the spirits back to their own world.
