Geisha Oden (right: played by Onoe Kikugoro) is sending a message tied to her hairpin to a man (left: Ichikawa Sadanji) walking on the street. The another scene in the middle shows that Oden is pouring sake to the cup of her client (Ichikawa Sadanji).
