"Azuma Nishiki Chuya Kurabe" (Edo Embroidery Pictures, Comparison of Day and Night) Izumi Shikibu, a renowned poet and writer, visited Kitano Tenmangu shrine. She saw a painting of cuckoo and composed a poem. The legend said, the cuckoo sang responding to her poem.
