Description:
"Azuma Nishiki Chuya Kurabe" (Edo Embroidery Pictures, Comparison of Day and Night). Lord Mitsunaka had a delinquent son. When he was informed that the son killed a village boy for no reason, he ordered his retainer to kill this good-for-nothing son. Since the retainer thought he could not kill the son of his lord, he decided to sacrifice his own son, Kojumaru, instead. Kojumaru saw his father was hesitating because of the fatherly love, he stubbed himself so that the retainer could cut off his head. The retainer showed it to Mitsunaka pretending it were the delinquent son's head. Several years later, when lord Mitsunaka heard that his son was still alive, he praised the retainer for his loyalty of sacrificing his own son.
