A Collection of Night Tales Artist: Chikanobu Format: Oban tate-e: 14" x 9.5" Subject: In the foreground two young bijin washing clothes in a river being watched by five warriors. In the background four faithful retainers of Minamoto no Yoshimitsu; Watanabe no Tsuna, Sakata no Kintoki, Usui no Sadamichi and Urabe no Suetake getting rid of the villains of Oe Mountain. Publisher: Kobayashi Tetsujiro Date: 1886 Condition: Fine colors. Slightly trimmed in margins. Japanese album backing paper. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally fine state of preservation. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and mica.
