From the series prominent Rimpa artists. Poppies were depicted as maki-e on the lid of a "suzuri-bako" (writting utencil box). "Rimpa" was a decorative school founded by Sotatsu in early 17th century. Korin further developed its boldly simplified and distorted natural forms.
